We Are Animal deliver a slice of taut, jerky backwoods dance punk on Work, topped with wheezy synths and some fantastically recorded guitars that sound like orchestra hits (God I love orchestra hits, a hugely underrated blunderbuss in any musician’s armoury). This is all slathered over a base of snapping, disco seasoned drums and percussion with a thick, rich bass sound bringing it all together. As if this recipe wasn’t already groaning with goodness, just imagine what some vaguely spooksome vocals would add. Oh wait, they’ve thought of that already! Good work We Are Animal, good work. JN
