With one EP already under their belts, Cardiff-based Three Pairs of Shoes have returned with a triumphant new record that sees them progress from ‘regular student band’ to ‘the real deal’. Having been in the making since April 2011 – albeit with a hiatus until October – their new self-titled EP offers more the grandeur of an album, with layer upon layer constructed by every instrument under the sun. Taking inspiration from the likes of First Aid Kid, Midlake and James Vincent McMorrow, this six piece might be onto something here.
